Toki Tori was one of the first really great games that I bought on my iPhone, it was easy to play and had great level designs and puzzle elements to it. Well I’m pleased to say that the game has now made its way over to the PC and Two Tribes have once again done a great job on it.
Toki Tori is a highly entertaining puzzle platformer like nothing you have seen before. Push your brain to the limit as you guide Toki Tori through 80 challenging levels spread over 4 mysterious worlds – collecting eggs as you go.
You are armed with an arsenal of different items and weapons including the infamous Telewarp, InstantRock™ and Slug Sucker! Combine these to solve each ingenious level – some easy, some brain-bendingly difficult!
A wide variety of items and weapons 80 levels spread over 4 large worlds Dozens of hours of gameplay For all ages – accessible and hard levels available Catchy music and sound effects Additional levels not found in Wii version Steam Achievements Full screen HD graphics Shader effects 5.1 Surround Soundtrack Controls designed for mouse, keyboard as well as joypad
Toki Tori is little bird who has the major task of trying to collect all of his friends who are trapped in eggs. Levels have been designed in a way to capitalize on his abilities of Toki Tori. Firstly he can’t fly and he can only climb short steps and ladders. The more levels you complete, the more the game opens up, Toki Tori wil be able to build bridges over small one-tile-wide gaps on the levels, he will be able to use a transporter around the level, he will be able to shoot enemies with an ice gun or even gobble them up in a vacuum. But you will only be able to use these items a small number of times during a level, yes early on you will have an infinate amount of tries with these items, but the further into the game you get, the less these items will be able to be used.

If you have played the game on either the iPhone or on the Wii, you will already know that the difficulty levels rise gradually throughout your play. The first few levels are there just to let you get the hang of it, but the later levels are much more difficult and require a lot of thinking. There is a ‘wildcard’ option which you can use though, this allows you to skip a level if you find yourself stuck. The good thing here is that you are only allowd to use it once, you can’t keep using it over and over. The only way to get it back is to complete the level you used the wildcard with.
The game features over 80 levels so it will take some time for most of us to complete, harder levels unlock as you play through. The game also has a number of Steam Achivements for players to gain. These are similar to those seen in Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 titles and are gained by completeing various tasks in the game such as collecting a certain number of eggs, or completing certain levels.

Now onto the controls, while the iPhone had multitouch and the Wii had the wii remote controls, Toki Tori can be controlled via mouse, keyboard or with a gamepad, I preferred the mouse controls which worked really well in the game and they were just as quick and responsive as any of the other methods used on other consoles.
Graphically the game is an obvious step up from the iPhone and Wii versions, I have been running it in 1680 x 1050 and not only does it run perfectly, it looks great. The game also has some excellent 5.1 surround sound which surprised me quite a bit. I even had my Logitech G35 7.1 headset on to play the game and it sounded great. Although some people may find the music repetative, It is one of those tunes that now can’t get out of my head!
Toki Tori will be made available through Valve’s Steam service and is scheduled to launch on the 29th of January at a price of $4.99. Early buyers of the game will receive a special introduction discount of 25%
