There are a number of decent Poker game apps on the iTunes App Store. I have to admit that while I’m not an avid poker player offline, I have had the odd dabble online, and what better way to play Poker than on your iPhone/iPod device where you can’t lose any money, especially as most of the time I do lose it very easily.

The recently released Texas Wuggle is a combination of both poker and wuggling. Texas Wuggle is a lot of fun, mostly due to the professional way it has been developed and in the ease at which is can be played. The game isn’t just your basic poker title as there is a lot here in-between. Firstly the game has a lot of specicial effects, is bright and has a lot of flashy elements behind it. This isn’t just for show, Texas Wuggle also has puzzle elements. Those of you out there who enjoy poker will love playing your hands, but those who like puzzle games will like the challenges.

To create a hand you must make sense of the cards that are in front of you after each deal. It is never neat, in order to make your hand you have to manage to string 5 cards together into a poker hand, then slide that collection from left to right or vice-versa to finish it.

Mechanics aside, there are two different game modes: spree and survival. Spree gives you a chance to start from the bottom, and in ten hands, manage to strike a cool million. Survival is the arcade version of poker: you have to race against the clock to create poker hands, and as levels progress, your earnings will go up while the clock does the opposite.

As mentioned, Texas Wuggle isn’t your average poker game, you get bombs in it, yes bombs. They are part of the developers previous game called Wuggle. To exchange a card, double tap on it then tap a bomb. You have up to three bombs, these come back to you at a rate of just one per round, so make good use of them.

There are some bad points though, like any poker game that you play online or offline, you will get band hands, the cards also move around very fast, rebounding, this makes things a little difficult when you are playing in the survival mode which is time-limited. It just causes a bit of frustration, especially when time runs out as you are about to swipe, but I guess that is why it is called Survival. Also the game lacks any online leaderboards, but as the game is very cheap and cheerful, it isn’t really a bad point, but it is one that they can fix in the future.

For those of you that just want to try out a different version of poker, this is a good place to start, give it a try, it is cheap, fun and can be picked up and played very easily.
