Ancient Vampire hasn’t had too much in the way of press since it launched the other day, but the look of the game appealed to me enough to try it out and write this review. It looked as if it may be a decent game in the same vain as Inkvaders etc
Do you want to feel like a hero saving the world, or maybe you want to taste fascinating vampires life, or you just enjoy fairy 2D cartoon graphics – in any case you must try new Ancient Vampire iPhone game.
In the world of Ancient Vampire the Earth is devastated by the evil and the only chance of salvation is to drink a magical potion able to transform you into a vampire with supernatural powers. The only way to get back to human is to reach a castle and beat monsters, creatures from the after death and the strongest demon aka “the boss”. So what you’re going to do? Of course, you’ll save your planet from the evil with courage!
Presented by MONZINI.NET the game contains amazing cartoon graphics, mysterious theme music and different personages scary and charming at the same time.
Main features of the game:
• Simple addicting gameplay
• 15 levels
• 8 types of enemies
• 3 difficulty levels
• Cartoon style graphic
• Music and Sound volume adjustments
• System of bonuses for increasing the strenght, the movements and the multiply shots
• Auto-save game

The game itself is quite basic, you play a vampire battling his way through 15 levels of varying difficulty, there is no real story behind it and no introduction to why you are in the game or why you have to become a Vampire. The creatures you battle range from witches, ghosts, werewolf’s to larger versions of the same enemies at the end of a level etc. The kind of creatures you would expect to see in a old hammer horror film.
The game has you move the Vampire left and right across the screen while firing bats at the enemies. On occasions you will have to do some very basic platform style jumps, but nothing much more than that. There are a number of pick ups along the way from treasure that improves your score to improved firing and extra lives, but nothing too special.
Graphically my personal view is that the game looks great. It feels very cartoon like and has a style of it’s own. Backgrounds also look good and the game can show a number of enemies on the screen at one time without any slow down. There were some flickering problems in the background on occasion though, something that will probably be fixed in a future update. Sound is decent enough without ever being more than that, although the music was good.
So overall it isn’t a horrible game but it just doesn’t have enough depth for me. There are not enough levels, a lack of variety and no online scoreboards. A game like this calls out for scoreboards or at least plus+ or open feint support. It has a nice graphical style about it though and I can see the developers have talent that I hope could be put to more use with perhaps more of a platform style as the control method used works very well, but I find it hard to recommend right now.
